One of the easiest ways to get anyone to stay in any relationship – personal or business – is simply to acknowledge and thank them for being with you.

Even more effective is to acknowledge and appreciate the specific things they do to contribute to your life – and work. “Wow, you really went out of your way to solve that problem. I would have never come up with that idea! Thank you.” Voila, the person feels “seen” and appreciated. It’s the magic that really works anywhere, anytime.

Yet, that phrase often doesn’t get uttered. Why not? We forget. We overlook its simple importance. We get too busy or caught up with our own issues. Or, we have many people we look after on the team and time is just working against us.
